Katie DiBlasi, an artist who grew up in Massachusetts, but moved to Canton Georgia at the age of 17, will be graduating from Georgia College in the Spring of 2022 with a BA in Studio Art. Introspective to the core, she has always carried a sincere curiosity about the depths of human nature, not only intrigued by her own thoughts and feelings, but also of those around her. This has influenced her love of art, because she uses it as a form of self-expression, and as a tool to understand the complex inner worlds of others. Currently, Katie is the president of Yoga Club at GCSU and after graduation she plans to get her yoga teacher certification in order to continue to deepen her appreciation and understanding of the world. Her dream would be to combine her love of understanding the human self with her love of art and self-expression and pursue a career in the field of Art Therapy.
Work is not for sale
My work is a collection of miscellaneous mediums, colors, frames, mirrors, collage and gestures that embody the essence of who I am at this point in my life. This series of self-portraits is displayed in a way that I feel captures this version of myself. The sporadic placement of the frames as well as the organic use of paint, marker, and collage serve as a metaphor of who I believe myself to be. My intent with my work is to appreciate and preserve who I am at this point in my life and all that It took to get here. The mirrors scattered through-out my work have been included in hopes that when the viewer sees themselves, they will be encouraged to join me in this period of self-reflection and really appreciate themselves for who they are in this chapter of their life.
