My series of works is a set of paintings that depict individual body parts described in the Biblical text of 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. These pieces are created with acrylic paint on wooden slices and silk foliage. I chose to use these materials due to the uniqueness of each canvas and the ability to create unique color palettes for each of my paintings. My concept carries from the paintings themselves to the materials used to create them. Just like wood and flowers are vital for harmony on earth, so are human beings. With canvases of varying sizes and shapes, my sequence of paintings works as an artistic expression of the importance of unity and inherent beauty of diversity.
